EVENT MARKETING SUPPORT SERVICES

The Economic Development, Tourism and Agriculture directorate offers free marketing support services to events that will attract visitors to the city, promote the destination, events that serve as entertainment for both visitors and locals or events that will serve to develop the local communities. 

All events held in the city do qualify for free marketing support services but depending on the nature of the event the support offered will differ. Events can be uploaded to www.nmbt.co.za that will enable the tourism marketing department to promote the event using the destination marketing platforms.


TOURISM INFORMATION AND ACCOMMODATION CALL CENTRE

Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism Marketing Department is able to offer all your participants a one-stop booking service, for all their accommodation, car rental, tours, and day trip requirements in Nelson Mandela Bay. 

The Call Centre will assist with any reservation needs at no cost to the conference delegates / participants. If they would like to book accommodation anywhere in the city, simply let them give us a call at +27 41 585 8884 or e-mail us at booking@nmbt.co.za

One of our Call Centre Agents will then do all the necessary enquiries on their behalf and source a list of available establishments, which meets their criteria, for them. This will include all the rates, names of establishments and descriptions. We will then assist further by booking the establishment of their choice at no charge to them. We also organize group discounts as well as discounts for conference delegates / participants and other large groups.

A mobile or temporary information/marketing desk can be made available at major events on request. Event & Conference Organizers to make a free desk available, details to be agreed upon via the Organizer and the Tourism Marketing Department.


MARKETING ASSISTANCE:

The directorate provides additional marketing opportunities for event organizers to promote their events, these include:

  1. Listing event onto events calendar at www.nmbt.co.za  (Event Organizer to upload)
  2. Listing on the Nelson Mandela Bay travel Guide Mobile App including Push Messaging to App users. 
  3. Website link exchange
  4. Banner adverts on NMBT website - Competitions / Ticket give away promotions
  5. Branding at event
  6. Tourism welcome letter
  7. Digital marketing on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other platforms.
  8. Mention of event in NMBT newsletter or direct mailers to industry and subscribed stakeholders
  9. Provision of visitor guides, maps and other tourism information promotional items
  10. Flyers distributed from Visitor Information Centres
  11. Billboard rental (on a first come, first serve basis)
  12. Welcome done by the Executive Mayor, (relevant) Executive Director or MMC at event (on request and subject to availability)
  13. Mention of event on radio (subject to tourism interviews / available radio slots)
  14. Media Tours for visiting media (on request)
  15. Airport welcome (on request and subject to ACSA approval)
  16. Press release on destination platforms
  17. Invites to media, trade and influencers

CONFERENCE SUPPORT: 

Letter of Support – the Nelson Mandela Bay Convention Bureau can assist in requesting letters of support from the SA Tourism and the Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency. However these requests must be requested for the bidding process.

Delegate Boosting – Should you wish to attract an international conference to Nelson Mandela Bay South Africa, we can request assistance from SA Tourism’s National Convention Bureau. Your request is subject to criteria as set out by the National Convention Bureau and the decision is at their discretion.

Pre and post conference event visits to tourist attractions – The directorate would be able to negotiate discounts for delegates and "special visits” to participants, provided that information is forwarded to us on time. This includes the Nelson Mandela Bay Pass, for which you can also earn commission on sales. The NMB Pass allows your participant to have free entrance and discounts to most of the attractions in the city. For more information on this please visit: https://www.nelsonmandelabaypass.co.za/ 

Tailor made packages – NMBT can tailor make packages for the event that can include amongst others accommodation, car rental, NMB Passes. These packages will be discounted packages making it easy and cost effective for participants.

Car rental – Through our partnerships we are able to secure discounted rates at selected car hire companies for your event, conference participants, should you wish to use this service please let us know.

Visitor’s information guides and tourist maps – We will be able to supply all participants / delegates with visitor’s guides and / or maps, the amounts needed must be supplied to us in advance (subject to availability)
