POWER OUTAGE – KENAKO SUBSTATION
Thursday, 12 February 2026
The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality wishes to inform residents and businesses that the 11kV circuit breaker at Kenako Substation (Wind Turbine) has tripped, affecting the Coega Wind Turbine supply.
The Motherwell Depot is currently patrolling the line and investigating the fault.
No estimated time of restoration is available at this stage.
Further updates will be shared as more information becomes available.
POWER OUTAGE – MOTHERWELL SUBSTATION

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality wishes to inform residents that transformers T2 and T3 at the Motherwell Main Substation have tripped on 22kV breakers, affecting electricity supply to Motherwell and surrounding areas.
The Motherwell Depot is on site and teams are busy investigating the fault.
Affected areas include:
* Sections of NU 1, NU 2, NU 3, NU 4, NU 5
* Sections of NU 9, NU 10, NU 11, NU 12, NU 13
* Sections of NU 29, NU 36, NU 39
* Booster Pumps and surrounding areas

POWER OUTAGE - DITCHLING

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality wishes to inform residents that the Summit 66kV feeder at Ditchling has tripped. The High Voltage Overheads team has been dispatched to attend to the fault. More details will be communicated as they become available.

* Sections of Lady Slipper
* Sections of Gedulds River
* Sections of Thornhill
* Sections of Van Stadens (including Woodbridge College)
* Sections of Summit/Gamtoos (including Gamtoos Pumps and Loerie Pumps)

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality would like to inform residents that a power outage has occurred at the Greenbushes Substation following the suspected tripping of the 22kV overhead line (GBF 1#77).
Affected Areas:
* Section of Wedgewood Golf Estate
* Section of Greenbushes
* Quarries
* St. Albans Correctional Services Facility
* Surrounding areas
Restoration Update:
Technical teams are attending to the fault. Unfortunately, there is no estimated time for the restoration of the power supply at this stage.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality would like to inform residents that a power outage has occurred at the Matomela/Kalipa Substation following the tripping of an 11kV circuit breaker.
Affected Areas:
* KwaZakhele
* Zokwana
* Sidindi
* Nduma
* Vuku
* Surrounding areas
Restoration Update:
Technical teams are attending to the fault. Unfortunately, there is no estimated time for the restoration of the power supply at this stage.
Updates will be communicated as more information becomes available.

Water trucks are roaming in the following areas:
Mthunzi Street, Kamva Motherwell
Area 11
Ramaphosa Street, Kwa Nobuhle
Didiza Stteet, Motherwell
Anta Street
Tankers are continually moving within these areas, and might leave to refill but will return to these areas.
Tankers will be moved and prioritised as needed.
Residents can contact their ward councillors for locations.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality would like to inform residents that a power outage has occurred at the Lawson Substation (Perl Road 1 & 2) following the tripping of a 22kV circuit breaker.
Affected Areas:
* Sidwell
* Sydenham
* Neave Industrial
Restoration Update:
Technical teams are investigating the fault. There is currently no estimated time of restoration. Updates will be communicated as soon as more information becomes available.

WATER TRUCK LOCATIONS

Residents are advised that water trucks are stationed at the following points:
* Versoenings Way, Despatch
* ?M. Ramaphosa Str, KwaNobuhle
* ?Ntsasa Str
* ?Ngoyi Str, KwaZakhele
* ?Ayt Rd, KwaZakhele
Tankers are continually moving within these areas, and might leave to refill but will return to these areas.

UPDATE ON POWER OUTAGE AFFECTING THE METRO

Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality wishes to sincerely thank residents for their patience and understanding following the power outage on the Bethelsdorp–Greenbushes Line.
We are pleased to confirm that the following substations have now been successfully energised:
1. Rowallan Park Substation
2. Lorraine Substation
3. Arlington Substation
4. Summerstrand Substation
Currently, Kunene Park, Walmer, Walmer Location, Lovemore Park, Lovemore Hights and Schoenmakerskop currently have power supply.
The restoration of electricity across the Metro will continue in phases as the network is carefully and safely brought back online. While some areas may experience delays, every effort is being made to restore supply as quickly as possible.
We appreciate the cooperation and resilience shown by our communities during this time and assure residents that technical teams remain on the ground until full restoration is achieved.
