PLANNED ELECTRICITY SHUTDOWN – SWARTKOPS / MATOMELA SUBSTATIONS 

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Electricity and Energy Directorate wishes to inform residents and affected stakeholders of a planned electricity shutdown scheduled for Sunday, 20 September 2026, from 07:00 to 19:00.

An alternative date has been scheduled for Sunday, 27 September 2026, should the planned work not be able to proceed on the original date.

* Replacement of earthing system on the 132kV/66kV transformer at Swartkops Substation.
* Maintenance on the 66kV/22kV isolators on Transformer 11 and Transformer 13 at Swartkops Substation.
* Reinstatement of the 20MVA transformer at Matomela Substation.

POWER OUTAGE UPDATE – ARLINGTON / DRIFTSANDS

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Electricity and Energy Directorate wishes to inform residents of an unplanned power outage affecting Arlington, Driftsands, Lovemore Park, Schoenmakerskop and surrounding areas.

A suspected trip has occurred on the ADS 0 11kV circuit breaker at Arlington, affecting the following overhead lines:

 AFFECTED AREAS:
* ADS – Arlington Driftsands overhead line
* DLP – Driftsands Lovemore Park overhead line
* DSK – Driftsands Schoenmakerskop overhead line
* Surrounding areas

POWER OUTAGE UPDATE – SYDENHAM / NORTH END

Monday, 7 September 2026

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Electricity and Energy Directorate wishes to provide an update regarding the power outage affecting parts of Sydenham, North End and surrounding areas.

Supply has been restored to Shepherd and Northolme Substations.

A faulty cable between Northolme and Mothwa Substations has been isolated, and a handover has been issued to technical teams for repairs.

SUBSTATIONS STILL AFFECTED:

* Fettes
* Innes

As a result, parts of Sydenham, North End and surrounding areas remain without electricity supply.

POWER OUTAGE UPDATE –
BLOEMENDAL
Monday, 7 September 2026

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Electricity and Energy Directorate wishes to inform residents of an unplanned power outage affecting sections of Bloemendal and surrounding areas.

An 11kV circuit breaker (CB) at Bloemendal Substation on the Fennel feeder has tripped, resulting in an interruption to the electricity supply.

 AFFECTED AREAS:
* Sections of Bloemendal
* Surrounding areas

The Electricity and Energy Depot is aware of the fault, and technical teams will attend to the matter.

There is currently no estimated time for restoration. Further information will be communicated as it becomes available.
