POWER OUTAGE AT TRANSNET AND CUYLER MANOR IN KARIEGA

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality wishes to inform residents that a 66kV cable has been vandalised at the Cuyler Manor substation, causing a loss power supply at Transnet, Cuyler Manor and surrounding areas.
A team is on the ground doing emergency repairs.
Residents are encouraged to report any attempts of vandalism of electrical infrastructure to 10111/041 506 5500.

CURRENT
FILMING ROAD CLOSURES AT M4 SETTLERS WAY
The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality advised that filming will take place on Friday, 09
May 2025 along M4 Settlers Way, between Walmer Boulevard and Russell Road, in
both directions, from 09:00 to 11:00.
Traffic Diversions Will Be as Follows:
M4 Settlers Way (North-South direction): Vehicles will be diverted via Strand Street.
Strand Street at Harbour entrance: Vehicles will be redirected towards Lower Valley
Road.
Russell Road (West-East direction towards M4 Settlers): Vehicles will be diverted to
Govan Mbeki Avenue.
All road closures and alternative routes will be managed and controlled by Traffic
Officers on site.
We kindly request that motorists plan their routes accordingly and cooperate with
officials for the duration of the closure.

CURRENT
The Sundays River Canal will be shut down Friday 09 May 2025 in an effort to affect repair work, where the downstream follower slabs will be installed.
Contingency plans are in place to limit water disruptions for NMBM residents but the areas that will be most vulnerable during the construction period are:

• Motherwell / Wells Estate / Bluewater Bay
• Parts of Chatty
• Kariega & Despatch
Western Supply:
• Bloemandal
• Chatty
• Bethelsdorp
• Despatch / Reservoir Hills
Water trucks will be made available during this time which will be managed with local ward councillors of the affected communities to maximise effectiveness.
Residents are encouraged not to stockpile water as water will also be moved from other supplies to mitigate outages.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality wishes to inform residents that a 132kV circuit breaker tripped at Chelsea / Arlington overhead line. Following investigations, it was found that pole CAL1#43 had a broken cross-arm touching a red phase conductor.
This has caused a loss of power supply to the areas below.

BULK WATER SUPPLY SHUTDOWN

On the 30th of April the NMBM requires a 24hr shutdown of the Kariega bulk supply pipeline to replace a bulk meter as well as affect leak repairs.
This will assist with increased efficiency in monitoring and operations.
