WATER DISRUPTION UPDATE
29 May 2026
The NMBM is monitoring the situation in the affected areas and assessing what further improvements can be made. Currently, water is being pumped at the Kabah Water Works reservoir; however, the amount of water we are able to pump remains dependent on the high turbidity levels in the area.
Secondly, a burst pipe occurred in the Chatty area, which damaged the reservoir outlet. As a result, the entire Chatty reservoir supply zone has been affected. Water trucks will therefore also be deployed to assist residents in those affected areas.
Lastly, there is a burst pipe in New Brighton, which affected water supply to the area, which was successfully repaired yesterday. The system is slowly recovering; however, isolated pockets continue to affect the overall stability of the water supply. Operations teams are making continuous adjustments to restore and maintain water supply to residents as quickly as possible.
Water tanker positions will be shared timeously.
We apologise for the inconvenience caused.

UPDATE WATER DISRUPTION
28 May 2026
The NMBM wishes to advise residents that a significant amount of stabilization has been achieved over the past few weeks, and there is currently a stable water supply to most residents. The only affected areas remain Tyrville and the surrounding communities.
Teams have made further adjustments to improve supply to those areas. The plant is operating at maximum capacity based on the raw water currently being received, and the situation is being continuously monitored. We are also deploying all available water trucks to ensure residents in the affected communities have reliable access to water.
Unfortunately we have discovered a leak on the Churchill pipeline. Our team is currently investigating the issue, and we will communicate any required shutdowns once more information becomes available, as this is a major pipeline.
The repair has been classified as urgent, and confirmation will be made as to the exact timing and date for the repair.
We apologise for the inconvenience caused.
