Published: January 30, 2023

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the victims of the tragic shooting that took place in Kwazakhele yesterday evening on Sunday, 29 January 2023.

Mayor Odendaal committed to making all municipal security resources available to assist the South African Police Service (SAPS) in their investigation.

Police Minister Bheki Cele visited the home where the shooting took place to assure family members and the community that they will not rest until they have apprehended the criminals who callously shot and killed these innocent victims in cold blood.

This follows after 8 people were shot and killed and three seriously injured in a shooting incident in Kwazakhele yesterday.

Over the last month there has been a number of brutal killings in especially this community as well as the Northern suburbs of Nelson Mandela Bay.

Mayor Odendaal stressed that the police must do everything in their power to bring an end to the scourge of violent shootings sweeping across the Metro.

Law and order needs to return to all parts of Nelson Mandela Bay. Our communities cannot continue to live in fear of criminals.
