INFRASTRUCTURE AND ENGINEERING DIRECTORATE

SENIOR BUYER

(FLEET MANAGEMENT SERVICES)

POSITION CODE: 8092

TASK Grade 10 (R303 324 – R421 704 per annum)

Qualifications and experience required: 

  • A National Diploma in Purchasing (Equivalent tertiary qualification).
  • Computer Literacy – MS Office Applications.
  • A valid Code EB Drivers’ Licence.
  • Two to three years’ relevant work experience. 

Key attributes and competencies: 

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Report-writing skills.
  • Supervisory skills.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Good analytical, technical and negotiation skills in assessing, understanding and delivering business requirements. 

Job purpose: 

Coordinating and controlling processes associated with the procuring of parts, equipment and/or specific services through interaction and communication internally and externally on aspects pertaining to the availability of products and/or alternatives, pricing, quality, lead times and service delivery standards against agreed terms and conditions; and attending to specific administrative information processing and reporting requirements. 


As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
