SAFETY AND SECURITY DIRECTORATE

 

SUPERINTENDENT: METRO POLICE

(METRO POLICE)

POSITION CODE: 190068

TASK Grade 14 (R457 404 – R635 916 annum)

(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)

 

Qualifications and experience required:

 

·   Municipal Police Qualification at an accredited Municipal Police Training facility.

·   A registered Traffic Officer in terms of the Road Traffic Act AND Traffic Officer Basic Qualification.

  • Traffic Officer’s Diploma, ITO III NQF 6 (three years’ qualification) (i.e. ITO 3 or National Diploma in Municipal Policing or National Diploma in Traffic Safety Management or Equivalent Policing qualifications).
  • Computer literacy – Office applications.
  • Valid Code B driver’s license.
  • Up to seven years’ relevant law enforcement experience, of which two years must be in a supervisory capacity.
  • All requirements applicable as being appointed as a Police member into Regulation 11 of South African Police Amendment Act i.e. Matric or Equivalent NQF 4 qualification, no criminal conviction, has permanent residence in Republic of South Africa, is proficient in English.

Job purpose:

 

·   Supervising and controlling all functions/activities within one Geographical sub-area to create and maintain a safe environment through policing, enforcing traffic legislation and enforcing Local Authority by-laws, to perform all functions related to the specialised units to ensure effective and efficient service delivery through the implementation of applicable strategies, plans and policies.

 

 

As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
