ELECTRICITY INTERRUPTION ON 21 OCTOBER 2018

Residents are advised of a proposed electricity shutdown on SUNDAY, 21 OCTOBER 2018, between the hours of 08h00 and 16h00, in various areas of Nelson Mandela Bay, caused by the temporary shutdown of the College Drive Substation, to allow repairs and maintenance to be carried out on a local transformer.  

Areas affected: Mill Park, St. Georges Park (only end of College Drive Road), Glendinningvale, Greenacres, Scotstown.

Streets affected: Ascot Road, Barris Walk Street, Bradshaw Street, Churchill Road, College Drive, Conyngham Road, Cape Road, Dene Road, Fairford Road, Highbeech Road, Lenox Street, McLean Road, Mill Park Road, Mortimer Road, Nightingale Street, Ramsay Lane, Salisbury Avenue, Wares Road, Way Avenue, Wembley Road, Westview Drive, Woodville Road, Young Road. 

All installations must be treated as live for the duration of the outage. - Apologies are tendered for any inconvenience caused.

PUBLIC HEALTH DIRECTORATE


DEPUTY DIRECTOR: ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH

(ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH)

POSITION CODE: 170011

TASK Grade 16 (R541 740 – R753 168 per annum)

(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)

 

Requirements:

 

  • BTech/Degree in Environmental Health.
  • Registration with Health Professional Council of South Africa.
  • Computer Literacy (Office Applications).
  • Valid Code B driver’s licence.
  • Five to seven years’ experience at middle management level.

Competencies:

 

  • Excellent management and leadership skills (essential).
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills in English and the ability to communicate with all levels of municipal employees and members of the public.
  • Sound analytical and interpretation skills.

Job purpose:

 

  • Managing and controlling key performance areas and outcomes of the Environmental Health Sub-Directorate associated with the ensuring of an attractive, safe and healthy environment through management and control of specific functional operations/work processes such as development of forward plans, management of three geographical areas and three specialized functions.
  • Co-ordinating community environmental health services and community health education.
  • Controlling environmental threats such as disease, atmospheric noise, industrial hygiene, natural vegetation, pests and animals, and performing specific administrative and personnel management functions associated with the functionalities.
  • Reviewing current and proposed legislation, by-laws, policies, procedures and appropriate publications for amendment of current prescripts for submission to Council for approval and implementation.
  • Keeping abreast with relevant legislative changes and National Government requirements and formulating methodologies/policies dictating procedural applications for consideration and approval.
  • Assisting relevant stakeholders and role players with the design, development, promotion and implementation of appropriate training courses for relevant staff members.
  • Co-ordinating planning for resource s i.e. financial, human, vehicle, equipment, management information etc.
  • Determining delegation of responsibility/accountability in the Environmental Health Sub-Directorate.
  • Considering the best available alternatives that recognize the Metro’s Vision 2020 and the Integrated Development Plan.
  • Monitoring and evaluating outcomes achieved, initiating and implementing remedial actions and reporting to Executive Director on status.

 

As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
