Task Grade 15 (R481 212 – R669 048 per annum)

(Basic salary only, excluding benefits) 


·        Degree/B.Tech in Environmental Health with Waste Management as a subject.

·        Registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa

·        A valid Code 08 driver’s licence.

·        Five years’ experience at Middle Management level.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages. 


  • Leadership, planning and organising skills.
  • Written communication skills, as well as the ability to communicate verbally in English and at least one other local language with all levels of municipal employees, government officials, as well as members of the public. 

Job purpose: 

  • Managing the relevant key performance areas and resultant indicators of the Waste Disposal Section, as determined by objectives identified in the NMBM Integrated Development Plan.
  • Operating and co-ordinating disposal operations.
  • Implementing capital projects pertaining to waste transfer and disposal.
  • Developing and aligning policies, procedures, systems and controls pertaining to waste disposal.
  • Advising, monitoring and controlling budget provision and expenditure.
  • Ensuring efficient and productive use of resources and investigating alternative methods of reducing waste disposal.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Performs specific administrative and personnel tasks / activities associated with the functionality to ensure effective management and control of the Section and a climate conducive to promoting and sustaining motivational levels, productivity and performance to support the realization of service delivery objectives.
