ELECTRICITY AND ENERGY DIRECTORATE
ARTISAN ASSISTANT (SUBSTATIONS) (THREE
POSITIONS)
(DISTRIBUTION: TRANSMISSION MAINTENANCE DEPOT)

TASK Grade 5 (R137 124 – R190 668 per annum)

In compliance with

African/Coloured/White/Indian (male/female) applicants.
Requirements:
- Ability
to read and write.
- Six
months’ relevant experience.
Competencies:
- Must
be physically fit and healthy and able to perform manual operations and
duties on foot.
- Incumbent
is required to operate heavy to lightweight equipment (jackhammer, hand
power tools), to lift, carry and assist with the loading and off-loading
of equipment and material weighing up to 20 kg.
- Must
be able to cope with working under environmental conditions that are
physically stressful, such as varying temperatures, weather conditions and
excessive noise.
- Incumbent
must have the ability to meet predetermined deadlines and work overtime
and do standby duties, as and when required.
- Sight,
speech and hearing ability.
- The
incumbent must not be colour blind, as colour indicators are used for
operating systems and safety signs.
Job
purpose:
Performing labouring
duties with regard to the cleaning of major and distributions and assisting in
installing and maintaining substation installations in accordance with laid
down instructions.
As part of the selection process, candidates may
be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include
pre-employment screening, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
