ELECTRICITY INTERRUPTION ON 21 OCTOBER 2018

Residents are advised of a proposed electricity shutdown on SUNDAY, 21 OCTOBER 2018, between the hours of 08h00 and 16h00, in various areas of Nelson Mandela Bay, caused by the temporary shutdown of the College Drive Substation, to allow repairs and maintenance to be carried out on a local transformer.  

Areas affected: Mill Park, St. Georges Park (only end of College Drive Road), Glendinningvale, Greenacres, Scotstown.

Streets affected: Ascot Road, Barris Walk Street, Bradshaw Street, Churchill Road, College Drive, Conyngham Road, Cape Road, Dene Road, Fairford Road, Highbeech Road, Lenox Street, McLean Road, Mill Park Road, Mortimer Road, Nightingale Street, Ramsay Lane, Salisbury Avenue, Wares Road, Way Avenue, Wembley Road, Westview Drive, Woodville Road, Young Road. 

All installations must be treated as live for the duration of the outage. - Apologies are tendered for any inconvenience caused.

Sunday’s electricity shutdown to affect supply to a large part of Port Elizabeth

Areas such as Gelvandale, Malabar, Brymore and sections of Walmer amongst many others will be affected this Sunday during a scheduled shutdown between 08:00 and 16:00 to repair earthing and communications systems between the Ditchling, Kragga Kamma and Malabar electricity substations.


Residents are requested to please plan their activities to accommodate this important refurbishment to lessen the effect of the outage.


Gelvandale, Helenvale, Malabar, a section of Kabega Park, Kragga Kamma, Sunridge Park, Fernglen, Framesby, Westering, Linton Grange, Parsonsvlei, Cotswold, Morningside, Glenroy Park, Brymore, Walmer Downs, Charlo, Springfield, Greenshields Park, a section of Overbaakens, a section of Walmer, Miramar, Mount Pleasant and a section of Lovemore Heights, THC-line (Theescombe / Chelsea), KKT-line (Kragga Kamma), SEA-line (Seaview).


Please note it is impossible to give exact street names as some areas (eg Walmer, Gelvandale, Kabega and others) are fed from 2 different substations. 

Therefore, we are unable to determine the exact boundary due to the proximity of the circuits and the network topology (how the network is arranged.)  

 

Details of the shutdown are as follows:

When:        Sunday, 18 March 2018

What:        Switch off Kragga Kamma and Malabar substations

Time:         08H00 - 16H00

Reason:      Repair and refurbishment of the earthing system and communication systems between Ditchling, Kragga Kamma and 

                Malabar substations.
